Our Belief

We understand individual churches have worship styles, which may differ from each other.  Cartoogechaye Baptist accepts change as our times change, however there are certain beliefs we hold that are uncompromisable.

We hold an unwavering belief that:

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and its message of salvation is the only way to have a relationship with Christ.
  • Having Christ-centered worship, which connects people with the Living God.
  • Prayer should be central in the life of the church and individuals.
  • The love of Christ is expressed through our ministries, missions support and compassionate service to our community.

Cartoogechaye Baptist is a fellowship of believers that purpose to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  We are a church with a missionary heart and dedicated to sharing the love of Christ through evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship and worship.

Our Vision

Cartoogechaye Baptist is committed to laying a solid foundation for future generations by instilling Christian values in our community.  Our church exists to glorify God and make disciples who will take the good news of God’s hope, grace and plan of salvation to all of Macon County and beyond.  We strive to be a beacon of light, showing the lost a way to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

How Do I Become a Believer?

As a church, everything we do, and the reason we exist, is because of God’s gift of forgiveness through His Son, Jesus. More than anything else, we want you to know that God loves you and has a plan for your life!

Many spend their entire lives trying to earn God’s approval by following rules, attending religious services, or being good people. But the truth is this: the only way to have a fulfilling life and an eternal future in heaven is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here are some things we think you should know:

1) God loves you.
Because of God’s love for every person, He wants to have a relationship with you.

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
—John 3:16 (NLT)

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
—Ephesians 2:4-5 (NLT)

2) But you’ve sinned.
All people have sinned because it’s in our nature. We’ve chosen to go our own ways and do our own thing as opposed to being obedient to Him.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
—Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)

As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one.”
—Romans 3:10 (NLT)

3) Sin separates you from God.
Sin forms a barrier that prevents you from entering into a relationship with God. Because of sin, you’re headed for a Godless eternity that the Bible calls hell.

It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.
—Isaiah 59:2 (NLT)

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
—Romans 3:23 (NLT)

4) You can’t save yourself.
People often think they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God through their own efforts. But that isn’t true. There’s nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
—Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5 (NLT)

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.
—Romans 4:4-5 (NLT)

5) There’s good news! God sent His Son, Jesus, to remove the sin barrier.
What you can’t do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for you! Your sin comes at a high price. But the good news is that Jesus paid that debt when he willingly gave up his life on the cross for you and then rose from the dead three days later. By taking the punishment for your sins on Himself, Jesus made a way for you to have a right relationship with God.

He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
—1 Peter 2:23 (NLT)

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
—Romans 5:8 (NLT)

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
—2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
—Romans 10:9 (NLT)

6) You can enter into relationship with God and have eternal life through Jesus.
Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore a relationship with God. It’s confessing your sins, genuinely turning away from them, and believing in Jesus, giving Him complete control of your life.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
—John 14:6 (NLT)

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”
—Acts 16:31 (NLT)

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
—Romans 10:9-10 (NLT)

7) Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ.
Admit to God that you’ve sinned. Confess your sins to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and take over your life as Savior and Lord. Commit yourself to live for Him.

If you just prayed to receive Christ for the first time, please let us know! Accepting Christ into your heart and life is just the beginning of an awesome, lifelong journey. We’d love to help you take the next steps in growing in your faith.
